Since 1997, Mr. McConnell has specialized in providing tax compliance and consulting services to clients in the real estate industry, both in the affordable housing and commercial real estate sectors. In addition to his time with DOZ, Corrie has owned his own tax and accounting practice, worked as a tax manager for the Indianapolis, Indiana office of a regional accounting firm, and in the tax department of one of the largest publicly traded REITs in the U.S. He has extensive experience with the taxation of real estate partnerships, including the low income housing tax credit (LIHTC). He has also provided tax and financial planning advice to numerous individual tax clients. Mr. McConnell has experience with properties financed by LIHTC, tax-exempt bonds and properties subject to the auditing requirements of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Corrie works closely with his clients to provide tax advice throughout all phases of the real estate life cycle, from development through disposition. Additionally, he manages all phases of the tax return preparation process for his clients, ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
Corrie keeps current with the real estate industry and the continually changing regulatory environment by attending continuing education classes and conferences on an ongoing basis. These classes and conferences address the most current issues, including Federal and state tax law changes, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, HUD guidelines and financial planning practices. This education is sponsored by various organizations, including the Indiana CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
