Experience

Jacob has specialized in the multifamily housing real estate industry since joining Dauby O’Connor & Zaleski, LLC in 2006 and has worked in public accounting since 2001. Prior to joining DOZ, he was with the international CPA firm Ernst & Young, LLP in their Indianapolis office where he focused on real estate clients.

Jacob is experienced with audits that adhere to the HUD, OMB, IRC Section 42, RD, and state agency guidelines. Jacob is also experienced with HUD and state agency required tax credit cost certifications. Jacob’s clients include, among others, two large not-for-profit housing organizations that sponsor and manage a large portfolio of HUD financed projects, and a tax credit developer that syndicates, owns, and manages properties throughout the United States.

Jacob’s duties include client relations and issue resolutions throughout all functions of the audit. In addition, he also ensures that each engagement is properly staffed with the required experience and abilities, reviewing financial statements, and meeting all applicable audit and tax deadlines. Throughout his engagements, Jacob is in contact with his clients and audit teams to ensure exceptional client service is provided.  Jacob annually exceeds the minimum levels of continuing education required for Certified Public Accountants and is the member in charge of DOZ’s internal training program.

Jacob also serves on DOZ’s executive and training committees. As a member of the executive committee, Jacob works closely with the CEO and COO to shape and drive the organization, including matters of budgeting, staffing, and management. As head of the training committee, Jacob is responsible for developing and executing internal training programs for new hires and experienced staff and ensuring DOZ stays up to date on best practices and current regulatory requirements, as well as overseeing DOZ’s external webinar education program.
