Lucas is a tax principal for DOZ, and has been specializing in the real estate industry since 2011. Lucas’s experience focuses on properties that utilize Low Income Housing Tax Credits pursuant to Internal Revenue Code Section 42. Additionally, Lucas is involved in other returns for both for-profit and not-for-profit development, construction, and management companies. Lucas’s portfolio of clients include not-for-profit corporations, multifamily housing developers, real estate limited partnerships, and property management organizations, among others. Since joining DOZ, Lucas has prepared, reviewed and assisted in numerous tax returns of limited liability companies, corporations, partnerships and not-for-profit entities owning various real estate developments. Along with the aforementioned business entities, he has worked with the individuals that are associated with or directly in regarding personal tax return matters. This includes preparation, review and consulting services. His duties include assisting in all aspects of the tax engagement and striving to ensure they are running as effectively and efficiently as possible. He is responsible for making certain accurate returns are prepared and meeting certain client, investor and statutory deadlines. Lucas has also been involved in Internal Revenue Service audits for individual, corporate, not-for-profit and pass-through entities as well as other real estate consulting services within the firm. Lucas stays current with the real estate industry and the continually changing Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies by attending continuing professional education seminars across the nation and staying up to speed through tax research mediums. He serves on the training committee within DOZ, helping with in-house continuing professional education and staff development.
